The third edition of the EduSphere Colloquium Series, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College, took place on February 7, 2024. The session, held on Google Meet, focused on the crucial subject of “Teaching Children with Special Needs.” Dr. Prithi Venkatesh Nair, an esteemed Associate Professor from the All India Institute for Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Department of Special Education, Mysuru, served as the resource person.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Mrs. Ajinasha, a B.Ed. student representing Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College. Dr. Naseerali M.K., the Principal of Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College, moderated the session, ensuring its smooth flow and active participation.

Dr. Prithi Venkatesh Nair delved into various critical aspects related to teaching children with special needs. She provided insights into learning disabilities, types of disabilities, challenges faced by educators, parents, and mentors, as well as the role of technology in addressing these challenges. Dr. Nair emphasized the importance of attitudinal changes, necessary skills, and effective strategies required to support children with special needs.

The event saw active participation from both online attendees via Google Meet and in-house participants who attended the session in the College’s Conference Hall. Following Dr. Nair’s presentation, a question and answer session allowed participants to engage directly with the resource person, seeking clarifications and sharing perspectives.

In his concluding remarks, Principal Dr. Naseerali M.K. highlighted the significance of the session’s discussions and expressed gratitude to Dr. Prithi Venkatesh Nair for her valuable insights. Feedback forms were distributed to all participants to gather their thoughts on the session’s effectiveness and areas for improvement. Certificates will be issued to acknowledge the participation of all attendees.

The session covered a range of topics including autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and intellectual disabilities, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and strategies associated with teaching children with special needs.

Overall, the third edition of the EduSphere Colloquium Series proved to be an enlightening and enriching experience, contributing to the ongoing efforts to enhance inclusive education practices in the educational landscape.
