Report on Mentoring Programme

Aims of the programme:

  1. Motivate exemplary academic performance.
  2. Ensure a congenial learning and development environment.
  3. Nurture healthy personal and social attitudes.
  4. Strive to bring about a positive change in the personality of the mentee.
  5. Ensure a supportive atmosphere to develop the talents of the mentee.

Programme overview:

  1. Mentees shall be assigned to the mentor from the beginning of the academic session.
  2.  Fourteen mentees shall be allotted to one mentor.
  3. Mentors shall identify performance in the relevant fields.
  4. The mentors shall keep track of the academic peroformance of the mentees including continuous assessment, examinations and help the mentee through counselling and remedial teaching, wherever required.
  5. Information regarding sholarships and grants, other competitions and events will be provided to the mentees.
  6. Social media may also be used for mentoring, if required.
  7. Mentors may assign peer tutors who are students with skills to support other students, so as to assist in the mentoring programme.

Duties of the mentor:

  1. Present an overview of the programme to the mentees.
  2. Maintain adequate records.
  3. Observe and assess the performance of the mentees.
  4. Implement effective assistance for the mentees depending on their needs.
  5. Maintain confidentiality wherever required.

Duties of the mentee:

  1. Be aware of the mentorship programme.
  2. Truthful approach towards the mentors.
  3. Politeness and a receptive attitude.
  4. Follow the mentorship guidelines.
  5. Good communication with the mentors.

Activities of mentoring:

  1. Counselling.
  2. Academic guidance.
  3. Peer tutoring.
  4. Support for personality development.
  5. Remedial teaching.
  6. Softskills development.
  7. Special class.
  8. Special assignments.
  9. Peronal instruction.
  10. Personal motivation.
  11. Assistance to enroll in MOOC/SWAYAM courses.
  12. Awareness about various scholarships and grants.

Expected outcomes of the programme:

  1. Builds confidence and self esteem of mentees.
  2. Improves academic performance.

  4. Imorving mentor-mentee relationships

The mentoring programme is based on the initial evaluation of the students and percieved progress as the academic year commences. Mentors are assigned after discussion on the needs and type of mentoring required thus ensuring positive outcomes for all concerned.
