
Kannur Salafi B.Ed College organized a local area visit named Roots & Resources: Celebrating Local Wisdom, an awareness program focusing on local knowledge and resources. The visit took place on 16th December 2024, with the teacher trainees exploring various significant locations in the Kanjirode area. The program aimed to educate and inspire the students by providing firsthand experiences of local practices and industries.
The trainees visited the following key location.
One group of students visited Kanjirode Bank, where the trainees learned about its operations and contributions to the local economy. They gained insights into the banking system and its role in supporting community development.
Second group of students visited Kanjirode Weavers. Here, the trainees observed traditional weaving practices and techniques. The weavers demonstrated their craft, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditional arts and skills. The trainees were inspired by the meticulous effort and creativity involved in the weaving process.
Third group of students visited Akshaya Centre, the trainees explored digital services offered to the local community. They learned about the Centre’s role in bridging the digital divide and providing essential e-governance services.
Fourth group visited Krishibhavan Kudukimotta , where the trainees were introduced to modern and traditional agricultural practices. They learned about the support provided to farmers through various government initiatives and witnessed innovative farming techniques.
The trainees described the visit as an exciting and wonderful experience. They expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to explore local industries and practices firsthand. The exposure to diverse aspects of the local economy and culture enhanced their appreciation of community resources and their role in sustainable development.
The Roots & Resources program successfully achieved its objective of raising awareness about local knowledge and resources among the teacher trainees. It served as a platform for experiential learning and fostered a deeper connection with the local community. The visit was a memorable and enriching experience for all participants, leaving a lasting impact on their understanding of local wisdom and its significance in today’s world.
