As part of the preparations for the upcoming teaching practice, Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College organized a Pre-Internship Orientation Programme on 26th June 2025. The session, titled “Action Research and Case Study”, was conducted in the college Conference Hall and was attended by all second-year B.Ed. students.
The resource person for the session was Dr. Sobha S, Principal of the college. She provided a detailed and insightful presentation on the concepts, processes, and importance of action research and case study in the context of the teaching internship. The orientation aimed to equip the student-teachers with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out their school-based research activities during the internship phase.
Dr. Sobha elaborated on how action research can help teachers identify and solve real classroom problems, thereby improving teaching-learning processes. She also explained the methodology of case study as a tool to understand individual learners or educational situations in depth. Examples from previous student work were shared to provide clarity.
The session was highly informative and interactive, allowing students to raise questions and seek clarifications. It also guided them on the documentation, report writing, and ethical aspects of conducting research in schools.
Overall, the orientation served as a valuable academic foundation for the internship and encouraged the teacher trainees to engage in reflective and research-based teaching practices.
