Drama & Theatre: Teaching Alchemy
Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College organized a workshop on “Drama & Art in Education” on 9th February 2026. The first day of the programme was titled “Drama & Theatre: Teaching Alchemy.” The workshop aimed to introduce innovative and creative pedagogical strategies by integrating drama and art into classroom teaching.
The session was led by Dr. James Paul, Professional Director cum Actor and Retired Associate Professor of Nirmalagiri College, Kannur. With his vast experience in theatre and education, Dr. James Paul provided deep insights into the transformative power of drama in teaching and learning processes.
The workshop focused on how drama techniques can enhance classroom engagement, improve communication skills, foster creativity, and build confidence among students. Dr. James Paul demonstrated various theatre-based activities, role-play methods, voice modulation exercises, and expressive techniques that teachers can effectively use in classrooms.
The session was highly interactive, combining theory with practical demonstrations. Students actively participated in group activities, improvisations, and dramatic presentations. The hands-on experience helped them understand how art and drama can make learning more meaningful, experiential, and student-centered.
The workshop proved to be an enriching experience for the participants. It inspired future educators to adopt creative methodologies in teaching and emphasized the importance of integrating art forms into the educational process.
The programme concluded with an engaging interaction session, leaving the participants motivated to explore innovative approaches in their teaching careers.

Day 3 – 11/02/2026
Visual Art & Collage Designing
Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College organized the third day of the Drama and Art in Education workshop on 11th February 2026. The theme of the day was “Visual Art & Collage Designing.” The session aimed to familiarize student teachers with creative visual art techniques and their application in classroom teaching.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Shobharaj P. P., Assistant Professor, Kannur University Teacher Education Centre, Kasaragod. He shared valuable insights into the role of visual arts in enhancing creativity, critical thinking, and aesthetic sense among learners.
The workshop began with an introduction to the importance of art integration in education. Mr. Shobharaj explained how collage designing can be effectively used as a teaching-learning strategy across various subjects. He discussed elements of design, colour harmony, composition, and the use of locally available materials in creating meaningful visual representations.
The session was highly practical and activity-oriented. Students actively participated in creating collages based on different themes related to education and social issues. The hands-on experience helped them understand how visual art can make learning more engaging, student-centered, and experiential.
Participants showed great enthusiasm and creativity throughout the workshop. The activity not only enhanced their artistic skills but also encouraged teamwork, imagination, and innovative thinking.
The third day of the workshop concluded successfully, equipping future educators with practical strategies to integrate visual arts into their teaching practices and make classrooms more vibrant and interactive.
