The Physical and Health Club of Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College organised a Mental Health Day Awareness Programme titled “Mind Bloom” on 9 October 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Hall. The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of mental health and emotional well-being among students and to encourage a positive attitude towards mental health.
The resource person was Mr. Nikhil M. Edavana, Counselling Psychologist and Programme Co-ordinator of Hrudayaram Group of Mental Health Institutions.
The session highlighted the importance of maintaining good mental health alongside physical health. The resource person discussed various aspects of emotional well-being, stress management, self-awareness, self-esteem, and the need to develop healthy coping strategies in everyday life. He emphasised the importance of recognising emotions, expressing feelings appropriately, and seeking support whenever necessary.
The programme also encouraged participants to break the stigma associated with mental health issues and to understand that seeking professional help is a positive step towards recovery and personal growth. The session helped students recognise the importance of empathy, mutual support, and maintaining healthy relationships in both personal and professional life.
The awareness programme was informative and meaningful, providing valuable insights into the significance of mental well-being. It encouraged future teachers to prioritise their own mental health and to create supportive, inclusive, and emotionally safe learning environments for their students.
The programme concluded with an appreciation of the resource person and a renewed commitment to promoting mental health awareness and emotional well-being within the college community. The initiative by the Physical and Health Club reflected the institution’s commitment to the holistic development of its students under the inspiring message, “Growing Strong Together.”
