The Women’s Cell of Kannur Salafi B.Ed College organised a programme on 9 October 2026 in connection with the observance of International Girl Child Day and International Rural Women Day. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the empowerment of girls and women, gender equality, and the importance of providing equal opportunities for everyone.
The programme began at 9:45 AM in the Conference Hall. Rizwana K served as the anchor, and Gopika Chandran led the prayer. Various activities were arranged to highlight the rights, responsibilities, achievements, and challenges of girls and women in society.
A video presentation was organised to highlight the significance of International Girl Child Day and International Rural Women Day. It helped students understand the importance of educating girls, protecting their rights, promoting gender equality, and recognising the valuable contributions of rural women to society.
A Daughter’s Day pledge was also included in the programme to encourage students to respect, support, and empower girls and women. The pledge emphasised the importance of dignity, equal opportunities, and the collective responsibility of creating a safe and supportive environment for every girl child.
A debate was conducted to encourage students to express their views on issues related to women’s empowerment, gender discrimination, and the role of women in social development. The activity promoted critical thinking, communication skills, and awareness of contemporary social issues.
The programme provided an opportunity for students to reflect on the challenges faced by girls and rural women and to recognise the need for education, equality, respect, and empowerment. It also encouraged future teachers to develop gender sensitivity and promote inclusive values among their students.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to support the rights and empowerment of girls and women. The activities successfully conveyed the message that empowering women and girls is essential for building a just, equal, and progressive society.
