SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Since 2017, Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College has organized an annual short film festival as a unique initiative integrated into the educational framework of the “Contemporary India and Education” course. This festival tasks first-semester students with creating short films that address various social issues prevalent in society. By focusing on themes such as gender inequality, poverty, environmental degradation, education challenges, health, and human rights, the students delve deeply into the complexities of these topics, offering a critical and creative exploration. The process of researching, scriptwriting, filming, and editing these short films allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts, promoting a practical understanding of the issues.
The festival not only serves as a platform for social commentary but also enhances the students’ learning experience by fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative skills. The initiative has been positively received by the academic community and the public, highlighting its effectiveness in raising social awareness and encouraging activism. It also showcases the talents and perspectives of future educators, contributing to their holistic development. This annual event has become a significant part of the college’s efforts to blend education with social responsibility, empowering students to become informed and proactive members of society.
