COURSE OVERVIEW

The Self-paced Short-term MOOC Course on “Critical Understanding of Educational Technology” was conducted on the website www.edumoocs.in. This course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of educational technology and its role in modern classrooms.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Introduction to Educational Technology

  1. Understand the foundational concepts and principles of educational technology.
  2. Explore the historical development and evolution of educational technology.
  3. Recognize the significance of integrating technology into education.

Psychological Aspects of Digital Learning

  1. Gain insights into the psychological factors influencing digital learning.
  2. Analyze the impact of technology on cognitive development and learning processes.
  3. Apply psychological principles to enhance the effectiveness of digital education.

Applications of AR/VR/XR in Education

  1. Explore the applications of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Extended Reality (XR) in educational contexts.
  2. Learn how AR/VR/XR technologies can transform teaching and learning experiences.
  3. Develop practical skills for implementing AR/VR/XR in educational settings.

Multisensory Teaching Using ICT Tools and Software

  1. Understand the concept of multisensory learning in education.

Demonstration of Digital Referencing Tools

LMS: Setting Up & Content Organization

  1. Learn how to set up and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) for educational purposes.

  3. Organize and structure digital content effectively within an LMS for seamless learning experiences.

COURSE CONTENT

The course was divided into seven units, each containing video lessons, discussion forums, feedback forms, assignments, or other activities, along with reference materials prepared by renowned resource persons in the field. The course included a total of four assignments and one achievement test.

The course content was categorized into two types of modules: Conceptual Modules and Skill Enhancing Modules.

REGISTRATION

Two types of registration were allowed for this course: individual registration for participants and bulk registration for students and staff of teacher education institutions. The total enrollment for the course was 475, with the potential for additional enrollments as the course remains available online.

CERTIFICATION

Certificates were issued to all eligible participants, with each certificate containing a unique Certificate ID, Participant ID, and grade. Digital certificates were provided. Resource persons who developed the learning modules received certificates, and organizers also received certificates acknowledging their roles in the course. Heads of institutions that encouraged bulk registrations were recognized with appreciation certificates.

FEEDBACK

Feedback forms were distributed throughout the course, allowing participants to provide input on each unit. An overall feedback form was also provided at the end of the course to gather comprehensive feedback.

LEARNER SUPPORT

Despite being a self-paced course, learners received substantial support from the course coordinator, who provided technical and academic assistance through a WhatsApp group.
