Kannur Salafi B.Ed College organized a Rabies Awareness Seminar on 10 September 2026 at 10:00 AM with the aim of creating awareness among students about rabies, its prevention, and the importance of taking appropriate safety measures after animal bites.
The programme was conducted with the theme “Awareness Today, Safety Tomorrow”. Sri Biju Antony, Education Officer, Mission Rabies, served as the resource person. Students of Kannur Salafi B.Ed College actively participated in the awareness session.
The resource person explained the seriousness of rabies as a preventable disease and highlighted the importance of understanding the risks associated with animal bites and scratches. The session focused on rabies prevention, responsible interaction with animals, immediate care following an animal bite, and the importance of seeking timely medical attention.
The students were also made aware of the need to avoid unsafe handling of unfamiliar animals and to promote responsible behaviour towards pets and stray animals. The session emphasized that awareness and timely action are essential in preventing rabies-related deaths.
The seminar was informative and interactive, providing students with valuable knowledge that they can share with their families and the wider community. It also encouraged the students, as future teachers, to play an important role in spreading health and safety awareness among children and society.
The programme concluded with a message of collective responsibility to “Prevent Rabies and Protect Lives.” The Rabies Awareness Seminar was thus a meaningful educational initiative that strengthened students’ awareness about rabies prevention and community safety.
