Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College conducted an informative class on Mushroom Cultivation on 15 September 2026. The session was organized with the objective of introducing students to the basics of mushroom cultivation and creating awareness about its importance as a sustainable agricultural activity and potential source of income.
Mrs. Chithralekha served as the resource person for the session. She provided students with valuable information about the different stages involved in mushroom cultivation. The session covered topics such as the selection of suitable mushroom varieties, preparation of the growing medium, maintenance of appropriate temperature and humidity, spawning, cultivation methods, harvesting, and basic post-harvest practices.
The resource person also explained the importance of maintaining cleanliness and proper environmental conditions during cultivation. Students learned how mushroom cultivation can be carried out on a small scale with relatively limited space and resources. The session also highlighted the possibilities of mushroom cultivation as a self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunity.
The class was interactive and informative, and the students actively participated in the session. They had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and gain practical knowledge about the cultivation process.
The programme successfully created awareness among the students about mushroom cultivation and its potential as an eco-friendly agricultural activity and livelihood option. It was a useful learning experience that connected academic learning with practical life skills and entrepreneurship.
