As part of the Third Semester B.Ed. curriculum, Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College organized the
Diversity School Programme on 12 June 2026 with the objective of providing prospective
teachers with firsthand exposure to diverse educational institutions and their unique practices.
The programme aimed to help student teachers understand the varied educational settings,
instructional strategies, administrative structures, and support systems functioning in different
institutions. It also provided an opportunity to appreciate inclusiveness and diversity in
education.
Objectives of the Programme
● To familiarize student teachers with different educational institutions and their
functioning.
● To understand diverse teaching-learning practices adopted in various settings.
● To study the organizational structure and administration of different institutions.
● To recognize inclusive and vocational educational practices.

Institutions Visited
- DIET, Kannur
The students visited the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kannur. They
were introduced to the functions and activities of DIET, which plays a significant role in teacher
education, curriculum development, educational research, and training programmes. The visit
provided insights into innovative educational practices and the role of DIET in improving the
quality of school education. - Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chendayad
The visit to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chendayad enabled students to understand the
residential schooling system and its emphasis on holistic development. The institution
showcased well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, library facilities, and co-curricular activities.
Students observed the disciplined environment and learner-centered approaches adopted in the
school. - JTS Thottada (Vocational School)
At JTS Thottada, a vocational educational institution, students became acquainted with skill-
oriented and career-based education. They observed various vocational training facilities and
understood how practical knowledge and employability skills are integrated into the curriculum.
The visit highlighted the importance of vocational education in preparing students for future
careers. - BRC Mayyil
The students visited Block Resource Centre (BRC), Mayyil, where they learned about the
implementation of educational programmes and inclusive education initiatives. The officials
explained the role of BRC in providing academic support, teacher training, monitoring school
activities, and ensuring quality improvement in elementary education. Students also gained
awareness regarding special education and support mechanisms for children with diverse
needs. - Kuttiyattoor U.P. School
The visit to Kuttiyattoor U.P. School offered valuable experiences regarding classroom
practices, school administration, and child-friendly learning environments. Students observed
innovative teaching methods, classroom interactions, and co-curricular activities that contribute
to the overall development of children. The visit enhanced their understanding of effective
teaching-learning processes at the upper primary level.
Experience Sharing Session
Following the institutional visits, an Experience Sharing Session was organized on 17 June
2026 in the Conference Hall of Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College. During the session, students
shared their observations, learning experiences, and reflections gained from the visits. They
discussed the unique features of each institution, the diverse educational practices observed,
and the importance of inclusive and vocational education.
Faculty members guided the discussions and encouraged students to critically analyze the
functioning of various educational institutions. The session provided a platform for collaborative
learning and helped in broadening their professional outlook as future teachers.
