

As part of the activities for understanding inclusive education before Teaching Practice, Kannur Salafi, B.Ed. College organized an educational visit to Thanal Rehabilitation Centre on 11-06-2026. A total of 52 students, along with the Principal, Dr. Seena RO, and faculty members Mr. Rahul C.V., Ms. Anitha P.C., Ms. Dhanya P.V., Dr. Anjali Rajeevan, and Ms. Santhwana, participated in the visit. The team reached the institution at 10:00 a.m.The Principal and staff members of Thanal warmly welcomed the team and arranged an introductory session. During the session, Mr. Shaji, Principal of Thanal Rehabilitation Centre, provided a detailed presentation on the institution’s vision, objectives, functioning, student strength, curriculum, and various rehabilitation and educational services offered by the centre. Following this, the Administrative Officer and three staff members interacted with the students and faculty, sharing valuable insights into the institution’s activities and the challenges faced in special education.
On behalf of Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College, Principal Dr. Seena RO expressed gratitude to the institution for providing an opportunity to learn about inclusive education and rehabilitation services. As a gesture of support, the college donated a wheelchair to the institution, which was gratefully accepted by the management. After the introductory session, the students were divided into small groups of four and assigned to different classrooms for observation. They observed the teaching-learning process of children with special needs and interacted with the teachers. The teachers provided detailed explanations regarding their instructional methods, classroom management techniques, therapeutic interventions, and the challenges encountered while working with differently abled learners.
Mr. Shaji accompanied the Principal and faculty members on a tour of the institution. The team visited various facilities, equipment centres, therapy units, and classrooms. They were also allowed to observe different therapeutic practices and instructional strategies employed by therapists and special educators. By the end of the visit, almost all students had observed the different classes and facilities of the institution. The team returned to the college at approximately 12:30 p.m. The visit proved to be a highly enriching and meaningful learning experience, helping students gain practical insights into inclusive education and the needs of differently abled learners.
Before concluding the visit, Principal Dr. Seena RO thanked Mr. Shaji and the staff of Thanal Rehabilitation Centre for their hospitality and valuable guidance. In the afternoon session, a review meeting was conducted at the college. The students shared their observations, experiences, suggestions, and the benefits gained from the visit. The review revealed that the visit significantly enhanced their understanding of inclusive education and prepared them for their forthcoming Teaching Practice programme.
