Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a visit to CH Centre, Elayavoor, on 21 August 2026 as part of its social outreach and community engagement activities. The programme was intended to develop among student teachers a sense of empathy, compassion, social responsibility, and respect for the elderly and persons in need of care and support.
The student teachers visited the centre and interacted with the inmates in a warm and friendly atmosphere. They spent quality time with the residents, engaging them in conversations and listening to their experiences and memories. The interaction provided the students with an opportunity to understand the emotional and social needs of elderly people and the importance of companionship in their lives.
The students also participated in various activities aimed at making the visit enjoyable and meaningful for the residents. Through their interactions, they shared care, affection, smiles, and companionship. The experience helped the students recognize the importance of treating senior citizens with dignity and appreciating their knowledge, life experiences, and contributions to society.
The visit also served as an important learning experience for the student teachers. It encouraged them to move beyond the classroom and understand their role as socially responsible citizens and future teachers. The programme emphasized values such as kindness, patience, respect, cooperation, and concern for the well-being of others.
The visit to CH Centre was a memorable and enriching experience for the students. It strengthened their understanding of community service and encouraged them to contribute positively to society. The programme successfully conveyed the message of respecting their wisdom, caring with compassion, supporting their well-being, and sharing love and smiles.
Overall, the visit was a meaningful initiative by Kannur Salafi B.Ed. College and IQAC towards fostering social awareness, humanitarian values, and community responsibility among future teachers.
